Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen
Henry's birthday month began with ribbons - thousands of ribbons. Mama spent the better part of two weeks cutting gray ribbons which were worn by the students of the High School where Henry would have been a sophomore. Later we attended the Relay for Life.
This year, the annual re-dedication of the Children's Memorial Garden was on Henry's birthday.
Earlier this spring on March 24 we created a St. Baldrick's Headshaving event. It was an amazing experience to plan and organize our own (however modest) fundraiser. Our family embraced our plans and Henry's cousin Penton became the first volunteer to have his head shaved to raise funds. Here at home six outstanding young men from the elementary school started their own team honoring Henry. We had a wonderful day raising money, shaving heads, playing music, informing about kid's cancer and reminiscing about Henry. We hope to create a Family Fund through St. Baldrick's that will allow us to raise funds in Henry's name throughout the year culminating in an annual headshaving event.
